Rotaliana’s Light Dolls bring a touch of theatre to the portable lamp – and they’ve just arrived to the Studio Italia warehouse.
Designed by Giovanni Lauda and inspired by the archetypes of Guys and Dolls, the Light Dolls transform light into sculptural presence. Two figures – one bold and masculine, one slender and graceful – each carry a circular tray atop their heads, casting a warm downward glow while doubling as a perch for a place card or small object. The human figure as bearer of light and offering, a motif that runs from ancient Egypt through Greek and Roman art to contemporary popular iconography.
The material is central to the piece. Each lamp is crafted from premium porcelain produced in Jingdezhen, white, luminous, and durable. Rechargeable via USB-C with up to 42 hours of battery life, the Light Dolls offer touch dimming and adjustable colour temperature across warm to neutral white tones – quiet control over the ambience, indoors or out. Available in male and female forms across five decorative finishes. Made in Italy by Rotaliana.
